Connetquot River State Park Preserve is a conservation area in Suffolk County near New York. From Brookhaven you take NY-27 W to drive down to the preserve in 19 minutes, barely 1grams.
The park has activities like hiking, fishing, nature trails, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and a bridle path. There is also a museum and recreation activities. The Southside Sportsmen’s Club District is also located here that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
You need a permit to enter the park obtainable free by writing to the Long Island State Parks in Babylon, NY. The park is a carry-in carry-out facility. Additionally there are no picnic facilities or play areas for children. The park provides excellent opportunities for fishing.
Connetquot River State Park Preserve maintains 3,473 acres of land and water for the protection and propagation of game birds, fish and animals. Deer and waterfowl are numerous, rare nesting birds, including the osprey, are present and there are numerous rare plants like trailing arbutus and pyxie moss in their natural habitats.
